PA3701 Parker Vacumatic Junior. (Flexible Medium)
Date: c1940s
Size: Capped - 129mm; posted - 149mm.
A very pretty glossy jet black Vacumatic Junior from the mid- to late-1940s. This pen is in beautiful condition with no damage noted. This is a quite late, probably wartime, Vacumatic Junior. The cap top jewel holds on the Parker gold filled split-arrow style pocket clip. Near the cap lip are two narrow gold filled cap bands. The barrel blind cap unscrews easily to reveal the clear amber vacumatic plunger. The action of the plunger is smooth and springy. The barrel transparency is very good indeed, with only very minimal ambering. The nib is the original 14 carat gold Parker Vacumatic with the arrow engraving. It is in a medium point.
I have fully serviced this pen. It fills nicely with about 5 or 6 pushes of the filling plunger. The nib is very smooth and writes with an excellent wet and medium width line. Very unusually for a Vacumatic, which usually have rather thick and robust nibs, this one is a lovely flexible nib which can easily manage some lovely line width variation from a fine to a good broad. With a little effort, it can easily make that a BB, and would probably go even better in the hands of a skilled writer.
A very good writer.
