Sheaffer
Sheaffer Pens
Behind the Sheaffer name lies almost 100 years of dedication to producing world class fine writing instruments. In 1907, in Fort Madison, Iowa, Walter A. Sheaffer revolutionised the world of pen and ink with the invention of the ingenious lever-fill fountain pen. Replacing the messy filling systems of the day, Sheaffer's unique slim metal lever made it possible to fill straight from the ink bottle in one clean, easy step.
The new system was patented and, in 1912, Walter Sheaffer staked his life savings to go into the writing instrument business.
In 1913, the W. A. Sheaffer Pen Company was incorporated and Mr. Sheaffer furthered his quest to deliver the unique writing experience.
Many further inventions resulted, such as the Touchdown filling system in 1949 and the inlaid nib in 1959. Soon the company established its unrivalled reputation for producing "classic" designs, the finest finishes and highly-sought after special editions.
Intensive training and many years of experience have perfected the skills of the Sheaffer craftsmen who today still produce an unrivalled range of innovative pens to suit every taste and preference. From handcrafted Lacqué finishes to modern and classic styles.
