CS1078 Conway Stewart Dinkie No. 550, boxed. (Semi-Flexible Extra Fine)
Date: c1950s
Size: Capped - 111mm, posted - 131mm.
A very pretty little Dinkie made from an attractive blue and black marbled casein. Casein is a form of plastic made from milk proteins. This pen is in excellent condition with no damage noted at all. The pen has a lovely bright and glossy appearance. The cap has a small conical gold plated top button that holds on the gold plated pocket clip that has the "CS" monogram within a diamond at the top and another diamond at the bottom. There is a fairly narrow gold plated cap band below the pocket clip. The barrel imprint is crisp and deep and the cute little filling lever has the "CS" monogram imprinted in the circular end tab. The nib is shiny and totally undamaged and is an extra fine point. The original box is also in nice condition; it does have some general grubbiness to the outside but it is in good structural condition. Inside is the original instruction slip.
I have fully serviced this pen. The nib writes very smoothly with a very nice wet and fine width line. This nib is semi-flexible and will produce some very attractive line width variation from an exta fine to a medium width with very little effort.
A very attractive little pen and an excellent expressive writer.
