A beautiful and very glossy Conway 388.  It is in excellent condition - no noticeable surface scratches and the only damage I can see on this pen is some discolouration to the plating on the pocket clip, mainly at the shoulder.  The cap has a large black hard rubber top button - this still has an excellent deep and rich black colour with no appreciable fading.   The pocket clip has the Conway cipher within a diamond shaped cartouche at the top and the diamond motif is repeated at the bottom.  There are three cap bands, two narrow bands flanking a wider central band.  On the barrel the imprint is faded, but still complete.  The short gold filled filling lever has the "CS" logo, again inside a diamond, on the circular end tab.  The nib is a lovely Conway Stewart No. 5N in 14 carat gold.  It has a rather unusual broad oblique point.  The box is quite worn with a good amount of edge wear and it has been written on, probably by the original owner.  

I have fully serviced this pen.  The nib is very smooth and produces a very nice wet line.  This pen has a soft nib and couple that with the oblique cut of the tip it will provide some very attractive and pretty much effortless line width variation from a fine to a good solid broad.
