A glossy burgundy marbled celluloid No. 540 Dinkie pen set from the late 1930s.  It is in excellent condition with the only damage I can see on the whole set being some discolouration to the pencil's point. 

Fountain Pen

Both cap and barrel are glossy and scratch free.  The cap has a large black conical ended top button that holds on the washer style gold filled pocket clip.  The button still has a very good deep and rich colour.  The gold filled pocket clip has the "CS" monogram within a diamond at the top and another diamond at the bottom.  There is a single gold filled cap band near the lip.  The barrel imprint is still in excellent condition, being crisp and deep and the cute little gold filled filling lever has the "CS" monogram imprinted in the circular end tab.  The nib is shiny and undamaged and is a medium point. 

Pencil

The Duro-Point pencil has a large black crown that you twist to extend and retract the 1.18mm lead.  It, too, is in excellent condition.  There are two nice clean imprints - a small one adjacent to the pocket clip terminal and the main imprint opposite.  I have installed a fresh 1.18mm lead into the mechanism so it is all ready to go.

Box

The box lid has unfortunately parted company from the base, bit the hinge piece is still there so it could be glued back to the lid.  There is some wear on the outside if the box but it is nice and clean and tidy inside. 

I have fully serviced this set.  The pen's nib writes very smoothly and is also lovely and flexible, giving you some attractive line width variation from an extra-fine to a good generous medium width with hardly and effort at all.  The pencil works perfectly.
