MS866 Snowdon Summit Souvenir Pencil, boxed.
Date: c1950s
Size: Length - 130mm.
This is a rather unusual item from the 1950s, being a 'floaty' pencil depicting the famous train that will take you to the summit of Mount Snowdon. It is in excellent condition and appears as though it has never actually been used. Very unusually, it still has all of its liquid inside the barrel that the little model train floats in - usually most of this evaporated over time. I can't see any damage on this pencil at all and rather suspect it has spent its entire life so far in its box. The pocket clip is held on by a red plastic top button. This is a propel-repel pencil that works by twisting the point, which is also chrome-plated. I have installed a fresh lead in the mechanism so it is all ready to go. The original paperboard box is also in great condition with just a tiny bit of wear to the corners on the gold foil covered lid.
I have fully serviced this pencil. It works perfectly.
An interesting little novelty pencil that is in unusually good condition.
