PA3592 Parker 51 Aerometric Mk. II Fountain Pen and Pencil Set, boxed. (Generous Medium)
Date: c1970
Size: Length - 142mm capped; 158mmposted.
A very pretty English teal coloured Parker 51 Mk. II set. Both pieces are in excellent condition and look to me to be barely used with no damage at all. The barrels are scratchless and very glossy. Both caps have a clear grey top jewel with a chrome plated Parker pocket clip. The cap posting covers the entire cap with no polished lip and the imprint around the bottom of the caps reads "PARKER" and "MADE IN ENGLAND" with the Parker arrow and halo symbol above. The caps are, as far as I can see, totally free from scratches and the frosting looks just lovely.
Fountain Pen
The barrel unscrews to reveal the Aerometric filler which is in excellent undamaged and shiny condition. The original pliglass ink sac is still installed and retains a good deal of its original transparency signifying that the pen has hardly nen used. The hooded nib is in a medium point and made from 14 carat gold. Very unusually, the barrel also bears a partial chalkmark which says "51 Classic M".
Pencil
This is a twist pencil. It too is in near pristine condition. The cap pulls off to reveal an unused pink eraser. Below the eraser is the spare lead hopper with several spare 0.9mm leads. I have also installed a fresh lead in pencil's mechanism so it is all ready to go. Again, a partial chalkmark on the barrel reads just "Classic".
Box
The original box is in good order, but somewhat ink-stained inside and with some age spotting to the outer surface. It is a gard-shell case with the criss-cross design outside and a frey satin lining inside.
I did just dip the nib to get the writing sample below. The nib feels very smooth and writes with a very good generous medium width line.
