Date: c1950s
Size: Capped - 137mm; posted - 152mm.
This 1950s burgundy coloured Parker 51 is in fair to good condition. I can see some plating wear to the cap top tassie, and a couple of spiral gouges to the gripping section/hood that were no doubt caused by the cap clutch - this is quite a common area of damage then the cap is twisted to remove it instead of pulling it straight off. The cap body exhibits the lovely delicate frosting that you'd expect to see on these Parker 51 pens. The grey cap top jewel is clear with no chips or cracks. Around the cap lip is the imprint, showing just "PARKER". The cap has a chrome plated pocket clip. The barrel is still glossy with no noticeable scratches or any other damage and in the English version of the burgundy colour - a slightly lighter shade than that produced in the U. S. The lovely 14 carat gold hooded nib is in a medium point. Unscrewing the barrel, the Aerometric filler is made from polished stainless steel and unmarked by damage. The original pliglass ink sac is still fitted and is still in perfectly serviceable condition, though as with most of these pens it has the usual internal ink staining.
I have fully serviced this pen. The medium point nib feels very smooth on paper, and writes with a very pleasing wet and consistent line.
