This beautiful Japanese glossy jet black lacquered Sheaffer set is in excellent, and as far as I can see, totally undamaged condition, and neither item looks to me like it has ever been used.  These pens were made for Sheaffer by the Sailor Pen Company of Japan.  Both cap and barrel ends are flat with black plastic inserts.  The pocket clips are straight and inscribed with the Sheaffer "S" at the bottom.  Around the cap lips is engraved "Sheaffer" and "Japan".  Both caps and barrels are finished in a beautiful glossy darkish grey lacquer. 

Fountain Pen

The section is in glossy black plastic with a gold plated "collar" at the end.  The lovely shiny nib is also gold plated with a distinctive heart-shaped air hole.  It is in a medium point.  The pen will accept most International sized ink cartridges, or a Sailor standard ink converter. 

Ballpoint

This is a retractable pen that works by pressing the gold plated button at the crown of the pen.  It has a gold plated point.  It will accept either Sheaffer "K" refills, or Sailor standard ballpoint refills.  The original Sheaffer refill in the pen still seems to be working very well.  

Box

The original box has a brown plastic base with a clear plastic hinged lid.  The pad is made from a flocked tan coloured plastic material.  It has a small ink mark to the pad, but otherwise the box is in lovely condition. The original white paperboard slipcase is also still present, which is quite unusual.  

I have fully serviced this set.  The fountain pen writes very well with a nice, smooth, and wet fine-to-medium width line.  The ballpoint works perfectly.  

A beautiful pen set in near pristine condition and quite sought after today
