This jet black Sheaffer Imperial set is in excellent condition.  Apart from some very minor usage marks to the barrel of the ballpoint pen that are very hard to spot, I really can't see any damage to either piece.   This set has brushed steel caps and chrome plated trim.  The flat-topped caps have a straight, squared-off pocket clip with the Sheaffer white dot at the shoulder.  The body of the caps have a very nice delicate textured finish.  

Fountain Pen

The pen's barrel is similarly flat-ended.  The section is black to match the barrel.  The Imperial II has a palladium-silver Triumph style conical nib.  The one on this pen has a fine width point.  The barrel end blind cap unscrews to allow the filling of the pen.  You unscrew it an pull the plunger back.  All the insides are in similarly excellent condition to the exterior.  

Ballpoint

This is a retractable ballpoint that is operated by pressing and releasing the bottom of the pocket clip.  The cap unscrews to enable to refill to be replaced.  The pen is currently fitted with its original Sheaffer ballpoint refill that, unsurprisingly, seems to have given up the ghost.  If you remind me I will supply a new refill with the pen.  You can also fit the standard Sheaffer "K" ballpoint refills, or the Sailor standard size refills also fit.  

Box

This is a rather once hard shell case with a textured cream-coloured outer, a brass-bound base, and a lovely rich, deep brownish, purplish satin inner lining.  

I have fully serviced this set.  The pen has a very smooth nib as most of these Triumph type nibs seem to be.  It writes very nicely with a wet and consistent fine width line.

Would make a super everyday writing set.
