SH1877 Sheaffer Imperial II Touchdown, boxed. (Double Broad)
Date: c1960s
Size: Capped - 137mm; posted - 148mm.
A lovely glossy jet black Imperial II with the short conical Triumph nib and chrome trim. This pen is in excellent condition with no damage noted at all and is presented in its original presentation case. The cap and barrel have no noticeable scratches or other damage. The cap has a typical squared off spring loaded Imperial pocket clip. The whole pen looks very attractive and glossy, and all the trim is bright and shiny with no brassing or other damage. The barrel end blind cap unscrews smoothly to enable the withdrawal of the filling plunger. All the insides are clean and undamaged and work as they should. The gripping section holds the Sheaffer's triumph style conical nib that is made from palladium silver. It is in a very unusual extra-broad point. The white and grey paperboard box is also in lovely condition. Inside, the pad is made from a cream coloured satin. Unusually, the outer slipcase is also still present, and this, handily, has the filling instructions for the pen printed on the back.
I have fully serviced this pen. The Touchdown filler generates excellent compression and the pen fills very well. The nib writes very smoothly. It lays down a good wet and consistent double-broad width line.
