This beautiful 23 carat gold electroplated Targa set is in very good condition still.  The fountain pen looks to me like it has possibly never even been used; the ballpoint has seen some use, but remains in very good condition with just very minor surface wear, and there is a millimetre or so of play in the pocket clip.  The caps and barrels of this set are a very unusual pattern for the Targa range and decorated with a machine engrave fine barleycorn pattern. The flat-topped caps have a black plastic disc inset into the top with a pierced pocket clip with the Sheaffer white dot at the top.  The cap lips are imprinted "Gold Electroplated [crown] Sheaffer USA". 

Fountain Pen

The barrel also has a black insert in the end.  It unscrews to allow the pen to be refilled.  It can also be used with standard Sheaffer ink cartridges, or you can fill it from bottled ink with the orinigal ink converter that is already fitted to the pen.  he nib is a superb 14 carat gold inlaid nib.  It is in a medium point.   

Ballpoint

This pen is still fitted with its original ballpoint refill which has dried up.  Remind me when ordering and I will include a free refill for this pen to get you started.  Otherwise, the pen works perfectly.  

Box

The original red leatherette covered hard shell case is in very nice condition.  It has a flocked grey pad inside and a cream coloured satin lid lining.  Below the pad is the original instruction sheet. 

I have fully serviced this set.  The pen's nib is just superb.  It produces a very smooth, wet and medium width line has has enough softness to give you a tiny bit of line width variation with no more than usual writing pressure.
