PA3523 Parker Ad-Pen Ballpoint/Rollerball.
PA3523 Parker Ad-Pen Ballpoint/Rollerball.
Date: c1970s
Size: Capped - 142mm; posted - 158mm.
This Parker Ad-Pen is in effect one of the series of "Big Red" rollerballs that Parker manufactured in the 1970s that were styled on the 1930s Streamlined Duofolds. This is a new-old-stock Ad-Pen. It has not been used, but is not boxed, and it does have a couple of very hard to see surface scratches. Both cap and barrel are glossy. It will accept a standard Parker type ballpoint refill - it is currently fitted with its original extra-fine Parker ballpoint refill. If you remove the front and rear plastic inserts as well as the ballpoint refill, it will also accept a standard Parker rollerball refill, so it is a true convertible pen - you can swap between ballpoint and rollerball modes at will. The cap has a black top button holding on the chrome-plated washer style pocket clip. This has a ball at the bottom and "AD PEN" imprinted down the tapered stem. Around the back of the cap lip it is imprinted "MADE IN BRASIL". The flat ended barrel unscrews to allow the changing if the refill. The black finger grip has a very comfortable design with a flared ridge making it very easy to hold.
An unusual item, very practical and versatile too.
