PA3672 Parker 17 Lady (Semi-Flexible Medium-Broad)

Date: c1960s

Size: Capped - 120mm; posted - 130mm.

This original model Parker 17 Lady was manufactured in England from the early to mid 1960s.  This one is a beautiful burgundy example and is in very good condition with the only damage that I can see being a slight mis-match between the colour of the cap and that of the barrel.  The barrel is slightly darker than the cap, though it is not really that obvious.  The cap has a burgundy top button securing the rolled gold Parker arrow pocket clip.  There is also a narrow rolled gold cap lip band.  Both clip and band are completely undamaged with no brassing.  Both barrel and cap are lovely and glossy with no scratches or other damage.  The 14 carat yellow gold hooded nib is undamaged and in a medium-broad point.  This would no doubt have been classed as a broad in its day.  Unscrewing the barrel exposes the aerometric filler.  This is very clean and the pliglass ink sac, whilst it does show some blue colour-casting retains most of its original transparency.  The imprint on this pen is on the side of the barrel and it is very nice and crisp.

I have fully serviced this pen.  The nib feels very smooth and produces a very good wet medium-broad width line.  Unusually for a hooded nib, it is rather soft - I would class it is a semi-flexible and it will quite easily produce width variation between a medium and a good generous broad.
