PA3696 Parker Vacumatic Major (Fine)

A lovely American made glossy silver and black stripe Vac in very good condition.  Using a loupe I can see some very minor plating wear to the raised parts of the pocket clip.  Also with a loupe, I have spotted a very small kink to the left-hand tine on the nib, though it does not seem to have affected the writing performance of this pen at all.  The forward part of this barrel is "visualated" - if you hold it up to the light you can see the level of ink in the pen through the forward part of the barrel. The cap is topped with a black conical "jewel" holding on the silver plated washer-style Parker arrow pocket clip.  This is the usual "split arrow" clip with "PARKER" inscribed between the arrow flights.  The blue diamond above the imprint does have a spot of the blue infill missing right in the middle of the diamond.  Near the cap lip is a wide "deco" engraved silver plated cap band.  The barrel blind cap unscrews easily to reveal the amber coloured plastic filling plunger.  The action of the plunger is smooth and springy.  The barrel imprint is crisp and complete but quite shallow.  It clearly shows the date code for 1944.  The original nib is also date-coded for 1944.  It is made from 14ct gold and is in a fine point.  

I have fully serviced this pen.  The nib writes with a lovely smooth line, and in a fine width.
