This is a pre-owned Pilot Capless fountain pen.  It is in very nice condition still and looks like it has probably only been used a few times.  The Capless is very unusual in that it is a retractable fountain pen.  You depress the button at the top of the pen, and a little trapdoor opens at the pointy end, and the nib emerges.  Press again and the nib slides back and the little trapdoor closes again to form a seal so that the pen does not dry up.  This pen is a burgundy red colour.  All the trim is gold plated.  The nib is made from 14 carat gold.  The burgundy lacquered surface of the pen has some very fine scratches that you will need a loupe to see, and the press-button at the back end of the barrel has the usual hazing that you always get immediately the pen is operated more than a few times.  It is fitted with its original ink converter and it works perfectly.     

I did just dip the nib to get the writing sample below.  The nib feels very smooth and produces an excellent wet and medium width line.
