A very nice full-sized English Summit made from glossy black chased celluloid and from probably the late 1930s. It is in excellent condition with no splits, cracks or chips, and no noticeable surface scratches either. All the plating looks to be in very nice bright and shiny condition. The only thing worth mentioning on this one is a very slight colour fading to the hard rubber cap top button, and even this is not obvious. The cap has a conical-ended black top button that holds on the gold filled washer style ball ended Summit pocket clip. Below the pocket clip is a very narrow gold filled cap band. The barrel and cap are both machine engraved with a nice and crisp barleycorn pattern. The barrel imprint is very nice, being sharp and well-defined. The long and narrow filling lever is also gold filled. The nib is a shiny Summit in 14 carat gold. It looks to me like an extra fine point.
I have fully serviced this pen. The nib writes very smoothly and produces a very nice wet fine width line. This is a soft nib and will provide for some attractive if understated line width variation as you write.
